SCAP Website Privacy Policy
SCAP takes your privacy seriously. Our fundamental stance on privacy is simple:
Your information is private, and should remain so. Please read the following to
learn more about our privacy policy.
What this Privacy Policy Covers
In this policy, the term "SCAP" refers to the staff of the Southern California
Association of Publicly Owned Treatment Works.
This policy covers how SCAP treats personal information that SCAP collects and
receives, including information related to your past use of the SCAP website. Personal
information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name,
address, email address, or phone number, and that is not otherwise publicly available.
This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that SCAP does not own or
control, or to people that SCAP does not employ or manage.
Information Collection and Use
SCAP collects personal information about you when you fill out and submit a form on
our website to request information, register for an event, provide feedback, or
otherwise choose to submit personal information to us. SCAP will not deliberately sell,
transfer, or otherwise give access to your personal information to third parties, nor
will SCAP use your personal information for any purposes beyond those for which it was
submitted, without your explicit approval.
SCAP automatically receives and records certain information on our web server from your
browser, such as your IP address, your browser type, version, and platform, any SCAP
cookies, and the URL of any pages you request. This information is used only to provide
web site functionality to the end user, or for troubleshooting and web site design
purposes, and is never sold, transferred, or made accessible to third parties.
Exception: SCAP employs third parties for the purpose of designing the SCAP web site,
and providing hosting services for the SCAP web site. The web site designer has access
to information stored on the SCAP web site's server for troubleshooting purposes. The
company hosting the web site on their server has access to enable them to maintain
system backups for recovery in the event of hardware failure.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
SCAP does not rent, share, or sell personal information about you with other people or
companies except to provide products or services that you have requested, when we have
your permission, or under the following circumstances:
-
We provide the web site designer with access to the information stored on the web server,
for troubleshooting and site design purposes. The web site designer has agreed to keep
all such information seen strictly confidential, and to not make any use of information
seen for any purpose beyond the following uses explicitly authorized by SCAP: the
troubleshooting and upkeep of the SCAP web site design.
- Out of necessity, the web hosting company, upon whose servers the SCAP web site resides,
has access to the data, by virtue of the fact that the data resides on their server. They
do not use this information, except for the purposes necessary to provide reliable site
hosting services (e.g.: backups in case of hardware failure).
- To respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, to establish or exercise our
legal rights, to defend against legal claims, or as otherwise required by law.
Cookies
SCAP may set and access SCAP cookies on your computer. SCAP does not have third-party
advertising or other third-party image content on the SCAP web site, and does not allow
third parties to set or access cookies on your browser. SCAP uses cookies only to provide
session-based consistency within a browsing session. Cookie data is never stored or
exchanged with third parties.
Changes to this Policy
SCAP may update this policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be noted
prominently on the home page of the SCAP web site. However, we do not anticipate any
reason to change our fundamental stance regarding privacy: Your information is private,
and should remain so.
